This course is designed to assist your company in having a proactive approach to fire safety by training selected staff to be able to perform the role of fire warden/marshal within your workplace.

  • Review of current legislation with specific regard to fire safety
  • Workplace fire safety
  • How fires start, how they spread
  • Fire precautions and need for good housekeeping
  • Basic principles of fire risk assessment
  • Reporting hazards and non-compliances
  • The role of the fire warden
  • Principles of fire drills and means of escape
  • Human behaviour
  • Actions on discovering a fire
  • Raising the alarm
  • Fire fighting equipment and signs
  • Maintenance and testing of equipment

The course content has areas, which are designed to be flexible in order to accommodate the individual needs or circumstances of an organisation.

Course Objectives -

On successful completion of this course, candidates will be able to:

  • Understand current relevant legislation
  • Assist in overall workplace fire safety
  • Assist in the safe evacuation of a building in the event of a fire
