The aim of the course is -

This course is designed to train and assess candidates in the safe operation of MEWPs, including how to safely and proficiently manoeuvre, drive and position the machine.

Course Content

  • The Law – Regulations & Legislation  (including: The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998, The Work at Height Regulations 2005 & The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998)
  • Introduction to the MEWP – explanation of function and controls
  • Pre-Use Checks, Inspection & Function Tests
  • Daily Maintenance
  • Setting up the Platform for Work
  • Planning the Route
  • Operational Safety Checks
  • Safe Operation of MEWPs, including Manoeuvring
  • Limitations of Use
  • Checking Fail Safe Systems
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Fall Arrest Equipment

The course is a mixture of theory and practical training/exercises, which is provided by an IPAF approved partner organisation. 

Course Objectives -

On successful completion of this course, candidates will be able to:

  • Understand current relevant legislation
  • Operate the machine safely and proficiently
  • Be fully aware of accident prevention & control measures

Venue - Either on-site at clients’ premises or at a fully equipped Training Centre (provided by an IPAF approved partner)

Duration - 1 Day

Candidate Numbers - Up to 4 per course (for 2 categories) or up to 6 per course (for 1 category)

Certification - PAL (Powered Access Licence) photo ID card and certificate
