The aim of the course is -

This course is designed to ensure that individuals understand their responsibilities, including why they are carrying out the identified duties and what is expected of them to ensure that they contribute to the safety of the workplace.

 

Suitable for -

All personnel who have entered, or are about to enter, the construction and civil engineering industry, to help them understand the potential hazards that they face at work on site.

This course can be taken as part of the qualification for a CSCS Labourers Card (Green Card) together with HS&E test.

Course Content

  • A practical summary of health and safety, welfare and environmental issues
  • Identifying individual responsibilities for looking after personal safety and the safety of others
  • Employer’s duties and what should be done if they think anyone’s health and safety is being put at risk
  • Typical construction hazards and how these are controlled
  • How everyone can help achieve better practical standards of safety on site

Course Objectives -

On successful completion of this course, candidates will be able to:

  • Have an understanding of health and safety law
  • Understand the need to prevent accidents and report unsafe acts
  • Understand the need for risk assessments and method statements
  • Appreciate the need to perform safely and to stop and ask for advice if not sure
