The aim of the course is -

This course is designed to promote a safe working environment by providing candidates with a general knowledge and understanding of fire safety and the use of fire extinguishers in the workplace.

Course Content

Review of current legislation with specific regard to fire safety
Common causes of fires
Causes and effect of fire spread
Classes of fire
Fire terminology
Fire precautions and need for good housekeeping
Basic principles of fire risk assessment
Specific fire hazards
What to do in an emergency
Principles of fire drills
Location and types of fire extinguishers
Explanation of techniques involved in using fire extinguishers
Extinguishing small fires when safe to do so

The course is comprised of classroom-based theory training / exercises / demonstration of the techniques involved.

Course Objectives -

On successful completion of this course, candidates will be able to assist in overall workplace fire safety by having greater knowledge and understanding of fire safety and the use of fire extinguishers.

Venue - Either on-site at clients’ premises or at ITS Training Centre

Duration - Half Day
