All personnel who may come into contact with sharps (dealing with discarded needles etc.) during their working activities
This course is designed to raise awareness of the dangers associated with sharps and needle stick injuries and to provide candidates with knowledge, understanding and the practical skills to safely handle and dispose of sharps within the workplace. The course aims to reduce instances of injury and infection when dealing with discarded syringes, needles and other sharp instruments and related waste and to give an indication of the scale of the problem, showing the types of risks involved, the range of problem items and where they are commonly found.
The course is a mixture of theory and practical training / exercises.
On successful completion of this course, candidates will have an understanding of sharps, an insight into needle stick and clinical waste hazards and will be able to safely handle and dispose of sharps within the workplace.
Venue - Either on-site at clients’ premises or at ITS Training Centre
Duration - Half Day
