The aim of the course is -

This course is designed to reduce the likelihood of a pollution incident, by providing candidates with the knowledge and practical skills needed to safely manage spills on-site, an awareness of the potential risks associated with spills, how spills can affect the environment and what we can and must do to reduce environmental pollution through spill containment.

  • The Law – Regulations & Legislation  (including: The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 & The Water Environment (Oil Storage) (Scotland) Regulations 2006)

The course is a mixture of theory and practical training / exercises.

Course Objectives -

On successful completion of this course, candidates will have sufficient knowledge and practical skills to enable them to safely use spill containment kits. Candidates will also have an understanding of the hazards associated with spills and an awareness of environmental protection.
