This course is designed to reduce the risk of accidents and incidents, including injury to personnel and damage to property or equipment by providing candidates with an understanding of general Health & Safety regulations and basic workplace safety awareness.

Course Content

  • The Law – Regulations & Legislation  (including: The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 & The Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013)
  • Employee responsibilities
  • Principles of Risk Assessment
  • Accident Prevention and reporting including near-misses
  • Fire Safety/Prevention including emergency procedures
  • PPE (personal protective equipment)
  • Basic Manual Handling techniques
  • Unsafe Acts and conditions
  • Slips, trips and falls
  • COSHH
  • Electricity
  • Health & Safety for computer operators

The course is a mixture of theory and practical training / exercises.

The course content has areas, which are designed to be flexible in order to accommodate the individual needs and circumstances of an organisation or specific industry. We can customise this course to incorporate other topics and can also eliminate any elements which are not applicable.

Course Objectives -

On successful completion of this course, candidates will have a greater understanding of workplace Health & Safety and will be able to interpret current legislation.

Duration - Half Day
