Water Jetting Safety Awareness

Suitable for -

All personnel who are involved in the use of high pressure water jetting. This could be personnel who are actually working with the equipment or personnel involved in preparing risk assessments or method statements in relation to jetting works.

The aim of the course is -

This course is designed to give candidates a thorough & detailed knowledge of all hazards associated with water jetting and an understanding of water jetting items and systems.

Course Content

The Law – Regulations & Legislation (including: W.J.A. Codes of Practice, The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 & The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998)

Jetting equipment
- Nozzles and jets
- Pumps and ancillaries
- Pressure controls
- High pressure hoses
Pre-Use Checks, Inspection & Function Tests
Water jetting hazards and injuries
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Operational procedures and site preparation
Preparation for operations
Team operations
Safety points during operations
Shut down and anti-freeze procedures

The course is a mixture of theory and practical training / exercises.

Course Objectives -

On successful completion of this course, candidates will be able to:

Understand current relevant legislation and codes of practice
Identify the hazards associated with the use of water jets and the necessary precautions required
Und water jetting systems and the correct maintenance, inspection and testing of equipment
