The aim of the course is -

This course is designed to provide candidates with an awareness and understanding of safe slinging and signalling techniques and also to provide them with a knowledge and understanding of current relevant legislation.

Course Content

  • The Law – Regulations & Legislation  (including: The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 & The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998)
  • Safe working load ratings and their application
  • Selection and pre-use inspection of lifting accessories
  • Round and web sling applications
  • Wire rope and chain sling applications
  • Shackles and eye bolts – types and uses
  • Other common lifting accessories
  • Correct handling and storage of lifting equipment
  • Communication with the crane/lorry loader operator
  • Understanding and applying standard crane signals
  • Safe slinging methods
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

The course is a mixture of theory and practical training / exercises.

Course Objectives -

On successful completion of this course, candidates will be able to interpret current relevant legislation and safely carry out slinging and signalling activities.

Venue - On-site at clients’ premises, using the applicable machines/equipment

Duration - 1 Day
