This course is designed to promote a safe working environment by providing candidates with a general knowledge and understanding of on-site plant/vehicle operations and manoeuvring by both the operator and site personnel.

Course Content

  • Brief overview of the law – Current regulations & legislation, with specific regard to site plant/vehicle safety
  • Internal company policies for plant/vehicle safety on-site
  • Roles and responsibilities of the plant/vehicle operators and other site personnel
  • Common hazards relating to plant/vehicle movements and use on-site
  • Awareness of potential hazards involving other site personnel, vehicles or plant
  • Visual safety checks before and during operational use and movement of plant/vehicles on-site
  • Safe systems of work, including safety zones
  • Understanding and confirming hand signals for plant/vehicle operations and movement
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

The course is a mixture of theory and practical training / exercises.

Course Objectives -

On successful completion of this course, candidates will be able to:

  • Understand current relevant legislation
  • Identify the hazards and precautions to take when carrying out plant/vehicle operations and movements in the workplace (with regard to the operator and other on-site personnel)
  • Put in place or adhere to existing procedures and safe systems of work
